Netflix viewers around the world have been left feeling outraged after watching what some are calling the ‘best TV series of 2024’.
That’s because season 2 of The Diplomat, starring Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell, is only six episodes – subscribers to the streaming platform wanted more.
The thriller show, which aired its first season in April 2023, follows Keri’s character Kate Wyler, who is named the new American ambassador to the United Kingdom.
As she attempts to defuse international crises and form strategic alliances with other countries, she also has to manage her deteriorating marriage to Rufus Hal.
The political series also stars Rory Kinnear and David Gyasi as the UK Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary, respectively, as the Transatlantic story rolls on.
While season one was a hit with critics, season two has really ramped up the tension and the new batch of six episodes is currently rated 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
But fans who raced through all six episodes are now regretting their actions, with viewers furious with Netflix for not matching the eight episodes of the first season.
User @alltheopinions3 commented: ‘Just finished season two and I’m so mad it was only six episodes because it was the best six episodes I’ve watched all year.
‘I’m trying hard to think of something better I’ve seen in 2024 and honestly I can’t! Absolutely amazing and I’m ready for season three.’
In response, @DTheAvenger said: ‘Nothing is better. There’s some things that are as good but I’ve already seen all the episodes and it’s incredible.’
@Mariuchejk was similarly annoyed that so few episodes had been made: ‘Just finished The Diplomat and oh my god the finale… I can’t believe they only made six episodes.’
Also replying was @Eunaotedisse, who remarked: ‘Oh me too! Only six episodes of The Diplomat, and what is that cliffhanger!?’
In a separate post on X, @AurileusFC shared a video clip from the 1995 film Friday in which Chris Tucker’s character says to another ‘Wait, this ain’t enough!’
However, speaking of second seasons, Netflix subscribers were treated to the brand new trailer for the second season of Squid Game – the South Korean sensation from 2021.
The series revolved around a dangerous contest where 456 people in financial hardship risked their lives to play a series of deadly children’s games to win billions.
The brand-new trailer begins by showing the show’s sinister masked guards welcoming new players to the game. They then explain that, after each game, they can decide as a group whether to continue playing or split the money evenly and walk away.
But as they enter the arena to play the infamous Red Light, Green Light game, it becomes clear that the contestants are only looking after themselves.
