One of the most challenging decisions Paris Fury ever had to confront was whether to endure the agony of losing a child alone or inform Tyson and potentially shatter his world title aspirations.
The mother-of-seven opted to deceive her spouse of 15 years, claiming their eighth child had tragically passed away during pregnancy while he was abroad training for a pivotal world heavyweight bout in Saudi Arabia.
However, she now hopes that by revealing her distressing ordeal, she can help dispel the stigma associated with miscarriages.
Paris was heartbroken when she discovered during a routine gender scan that the unborn baby no longer had a heartbeat.
Reflecting on that horrific night in May, the 35 year old disclosed that concealing the truth from Tyson was her sole choice as she grappled with the reality of having to deliver a stillborn child, reports the Mirror.
She expressed: “I had to make the decision, do I tell him? And I came to the conclusion that whatever was happening with me, I couldn’t change it. But I could change dramatically what was happening in his life.Knowing he was expecting her to join him ringside in Riyadh, she said: “.
Aware that he was anticipating her presence at the ringside in Riyadh, she confessed: “I made up a lie that I had high blood pressure. It was the only thing I could think of that would stop me from flying without having to give him the terrible news.”
Paris Fury opened up about the heart-wrenching moment she discovered she had lost her baby during a routine scan. At the time, her husband Tyson was in Saudi Arabia preparing for his fight.
“I was alone at the time. Tyson was in Saudi Arabia getting ready for his fight in the training camp, I’d had my 12-week scan, and everything was well, so I’d just popped in for a gender scan. Obviously having had multiple pregnancies, I just got a friend to watch the kids and I thought I’d come down and find out what it is, and then I could tell Tyson when I went over to join him in Saudi.”
As Paris settled on the bed for the scan, she anticipated the usual sight of a heartbeat on the monitor. She recounted: “I knew there was a problem. I didn’t know, my head was sort of telling me, actually, no, you’re wrong… but I was looking at screen, thinking, ‘Why is that not flickering? ‘”.
The situation took a turn for the worse as she received the tragic update. Paris continued: “The sonographer said to me, ‘I’m really sorry, Paris, there’s no heartbeat. I jumped up, started to cry, and said, ‘No, hold on, hold on. No, no, wait,’ and went all frantic.”
In a state of shock, Paris, who resides in Morecambe, Lancashire, insisted on another scan.
When the sonographer couldn’t confirm the loss with certainty, Paris was scheduled for a follow-up appointment at Lancaster Hospital the following day.
Reflecting on the painful experience, Paris described leaving the clinic in distress. She added: “I thought, ‘I can’t go home to the kids and be crying and hysterical like this.'”.
Paris sought solace with a friend after her harrowing experience. Recounting her past losses, Paris revealed: “I’ve had three miscarriages. I lost one in the first trimester, and two in the second trimester, two that I’ve had to deliver. We’ve buried two baby boys.”
She also commended the hospital staff for their exceptional care during her recent ordeal.
Having welcomed their youngest child, Rico, just eight months prior, Paris shared her experience at the hospital: “When I went in, they said I was too far on to be put to sleep and told me, ‘You’ve got to have the baby.’ The staff were amazing. There was a midwife with me the whole way through. It’s a horrific ordeal to go through but they were exceptional.”
In the midst of the pain of delivering a baby she would never raise, Paris maintained her composure for her husband Tyson, who was preparing for his high-stakes bout against Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk for the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles. She recounted: “The whole time I was in the hospital, Tyson was FaceTiming me, saying, ‘You’re all right, then? “.
Tyson even proposed sending a private jet to bring her to Saudi Arabia.
Paris continued: “I kept telling him. ‘No, I don’t want to risk it. He told me later, ‘I knew something was wrong, I just didn’t want to believe it.'”.
Upon returning home, Paris was greeted by her children, whose ages span from one year old Rico to 15, most of whom were largely unaware of the distress she had endured. She concluded: “The little ones didn’t know about it, but my older daughter understood and she helped me in the home.”
Tyson experienced defeat in his bout in Saudi Arabia, with Paris witnessing the event unfold through her television. Reflecting on the loss, she commented: “It’s a shame that he didn’t win this fight which was upsetting.”
Choosing not to convey the disheartening outcome to Tyson via phone, she awaited his return the following day.
Discussing the heartache of their personal tragedy, she revealed: “It does affect the father, but for the woman who carries that child, it is more severe. No matter how much it hurts Tyson, it’s 10 times worse for me. But where I’d had time to process the idea, it took him days to face the burial. He said, ‘I can’t do it right now.'”.
In the aftermath, the pair arranged a private interment for their baby, maintaining privacy about the matter until Tyson publicly acknowledged it when he declared a rematch with Usyk scheduled for December.
Opening up about the experience, Paris expressed: “I knew it would come out and the day it did, I was happy to talk about it. It makes it normal for other people to know that they’re not the only ones it happens to.”
She also spoke candidly about the psychological pain caused by miscarriage, urging women not to reproach themselves.
“At the time it feels like your world is ripped to pieces. But I know everyone can get through it. And what is so traumatic one day, becomes a memory. You know, you had that little piece of life, even if it’s such a short time. Mentally I’m at ease with what went on. Physically, I’m OK.”
Nevertheless, Paris has pledged to never miss another of her husband’s matches, with Tyson ready to step back into the ring for a repeat contest against Usyk on the 21st of December in Riyadh, an event Paris will be attending.
She shares candidly, “I said after the last fight, I’d never miss another one. I think there was just too much going on in his head last time. And yeah, I think 100% he’ll be coming home with the belt.”
