CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR/Gray News) – A 4-month-old baby in Virginia has died a week after being hit by a car, according to authorities.
In a release from the Albemarle County Police Department, officials said police responded to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian in Charlottesville around 7 p.m. on Oct. 24.
The crash took place on Stony Point Road in the area of Riverside Shops Way, according to the release.
Officers said a driver traveling south hit the 4-month-old along with a 1-year-old, 3-year-old and 38-year-old woman who were crossing the street.
The children were rushed to UVA Medical Center in life-threatening conditions. The woman was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
The driver, who was unharmed, remained on the scene, according to police.
The 4-month-old sadly died from their injuries on Wednesday, according to the release. None of the victims, nor the driver, were identified by officials.
The Albemarle County Police Department asked any witnesses of the crash to contact them.
The crash remains under investigation.
