A manhunt has been launched after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted at a railway station in East Renfrewshire.
British Transport Police were alerted to the incident involving a 13-year-old girl at Thornliebank Railway Station, in Greater Glasgow, on May 1. Officers said the culprit, believed to be male, has still not been identified.
Inquiries remain ongoing Crimestoppers has subsequently launched a “most wanted” appeal for the culprit.
The charity has released CCTV images of a man they believe may be able to assist police with their inquiries. He is described as of Middle Eastern appearance, mid to late 20s, with short black hair wearing a dark navy full tracksuit.
At the time, he was wearing an upper zipper with a white and light blue pattern on the chest. His bottoms were described as having two light blue stripes down each outer side. He was also said to be wearing grey/brown trainers.
In a statement, Crimestoppers said: “Detectives from British Transport Police are continuing efforts to identify a male who may be able to assist with an ongoing investigation. The incident in question involves the assault of a female that occurred on Wednesday, 1st May 2024, at Thornliebank Railway Station, Glasgow.
“Despite previous media appeals, the male has not yet been identified. Detectives are now seeking the assistance of Crimestoppers in identifying this individual, who is believed to be crucial in progressing the inquiry.”
