Strictly Come Dancing viewers were ‘left in tears’ watching Miranda Hart make a surprise appearance.
On this week’s live show, the comedian and actress popped up in a pre-recorded segment to check in on her former Miranda co-star Sarah Hadland.
Sarah, 53, is competing on this season of the long-running BBC series, where she’s been paired with professional dancer Vito Coppola.
This week’s episode saw the show’s first ever Icons week, with Sarah choosing to honour Madonna, taking to the dancefloor performing a Cha Cha to the song Like A Prayer.
However, in a pre-recorded segment showing the pair practising, they were surprised when Miranda appeared.
After a few clips showed Sarah and Vito in the training room, the camera cut to Miranda standing outside in the hallway.
‘I’m here at Sarah and Vito’s training room and like all great choreographers I am wearing a black turtleneck and holding a small dog with me, so here I am,’ she said.
Walking into the room she declared: ‘Should we get to work!?’
Sarah and Vito were taken aback, running up to greet her but they were soon put to work.
As Miranda, who has been posting videos on social media in recent weeks offering her advice on how they can improve their dancing, explained it was clearly nerve wracking for them to have her watch their training.
Sitting in a chair in the middle of room, she then asked them to show what they’d been working on, saying they were displaying ‘a few mistakes’ and suggested a dance move to incorporate in, mimicking a ‘dog doing a wee’.
After the fun and games though, she became emotional and ended up in tears saying it was ‘an amazing experience and I feel very lucky’ to have sat in and watched her friend train for the series.
However, she then did jokingly push Sarah out of the way and explain how she was ‘actually really excited and starstruck’ to meet Vito but did also thank him for ‘looking after my friend’.
Miranda’s cameo on the show left many viewers emotional as well.
‘Seeing Miranda and Sarah together warmed my heart lads,’ Laura posted on X.
‘Miranda & Sarah has me crying. I love their friendship so much,’ Chloe shared.
‘Still makes me so happy seeing Miranda and Sarah together again,’ Emily added.
Others even said they were ‘sobbing’.
After performing, Sarah and Vito picked up plenty of praise from the judges, with Anton Du Beke saying it was ‘the best thing I’ve seen tonight’.
Meanwhile Craig Revel Horwood called it a ‘powerhouse performance’.
They ended up receiving a score of 37 from the judges.
It comes after they scored 38 during last week’s Halloween special.
