Ropey Rangers defender Robin Propper has been slaughtered with former Motherwell stopper Stephen Craigan saying: “He looks like he can’t RUN”.

The sloppy stopper – who arrived during the summer rebuild from FC Twente – has failed to deliver since arriving in Glasgow with a number of suspect displays. He’s found himself in and out of the team with John Souttar remaining the constant in the heart of the backline with Leon Balogun or Propper the ones who are rotating beside the Scotland international. The experienced defender was identified as the man to replace Connor Goldson after his Ibrox exit with Craigan questioning the signing that offers “no real difference” to the former Brighton man.

The ex-Motherwell defender even suggested that Goldson is a better player than Propper. Craigan starred in the top flight in Scotland as a centre-back and when asked about the Dutchman, he told BBC Sportsound: “He arrived with a reputation of when he left the Netherlands that it was a huge loss to the club and how would they recover. This was their leader and best player.

“He looks like he has lost his legs, he looks like he can’t run. [Toyosi] Olusanya last week on a number of occasions just brushed him out of the way and simply ran beyond him. That is not what you want from a number one centre-half.

“That is the reason why they got rid of Connor Goldson. They felt as if his better years where beyond him and he was going to struggle at a certain level and needed a little more pace at the back. He is almost sort of carbon copy of Connor Goldson – there is no real difference.

“In fact I would say Connor Goldson is a better player. So why would you trade one to bring another in when you are not improving that area of the team?”

Leanne Crichton added: “Probably wages as well to be fair. Connor Goldson going out the exit door was more about money and the salary he was picking up week by week.”
