Lifeboat crews rescued two people and a dog that became cut off by the tide on rocks on the Firth of Forth, in just one of a number of incidents in recent weeks.

The RNLI Queensferry crew scrambled to the scene all three casualties were transported back to Cramond Village on October 21. Then, two days later, another call was made regarding two people in difficulty near Cramond Causeway. Upon arrival the pair were seen to be up to their knees in water, but nearly ashore.

On Sunday, October 27, the crew’s pagers were then activated due to reports of a 27ft yacht on rocks with two people onboard near Inchcolm Island. Upon finding the vessel, it was not taking on water and the lifeboat stood down.

Taking to social media to share details of the vital work the crew carry out 365 days of the year, they said: “Another busy spell for our lifeboat and volunteer crew. Here’s a round up of some of our taskings, taking the station up to 94 shouts for the year to date.

“On Monday October 21at 2.31pm, UK Coastguard tasked Queensferry Lifeboat to two people and a dog cut off by the tide on Cramond Island. The crew transferred the people and dog to the lifeboat and took them to Cramond Village where they were handed into the care of South Queensferry Coastguard.

“On Wednesday October 23 at 4.47pm, the lifeboat was tasked to two people in the water on Cramond Causeway. On arrival, the casualties were seen to be up to their knees in water but nearly ashore. The lifeboat stood by to ensure the casualties made it to shore safely. Crew members went ashore to check no one was in need of medical attention.

“On Sunday October 27 at 4.08pm the pagers were activated due to reports of a 27ft yacht on rocks, with 2 people on board, north of Inchcolm Island. The lifeboat arrived on scene and made contact with the casualties.

“After ensuring the vessel was not taking on water and all on board were well, the lifeboat stood by until the vessel was refloated. The vessel was then shadowed by Queensferry Lifeboat to Port Edgar Marina and met by South Queensferry Coastguard Rescue Team. The lifeboat headed back to station at 8.20pm.

“As the evenings get darker and colder we’d like to remind people to take extra care around our coasts and on the water. Always have a means of calling for help and tell someone where you are going an expected time of return.”
