Kilmarnock defender Robbie Deas says they can rely on late heroics again when they visit Dundee this afternoon – and challenged the side to produce the goods over the entire 90 minutes.
Killie mounted a barely believable fightback just four weeks ago against the Dees when they picked up a 3-2 win despite trailing 2-0 with just four minutes left on the clock.
A Matty Kennedy brace arrived either side of a Bruce Anderson header in that late showing, but the 24-year-old knows they can’t keep digging themselves out of holes.
They also came from behind to get the better of Hearts at Tynecastle in midweek when goals from Kennedy and skipper Kyle Vassell saw them win 2-1 in the capital.
He said: “We’re still looking for that 90 minute performance this season but we should take a lot of positives from Hearts and take it into Sunday.
“That second half performance was more like a Kilmarnock team that you’ve seen in the past year.
“It’s getting back to what we’re good at as a team and taking it on from there and hopefully looking up the league.
“You’ve seen us last year, we’re winning games, we’ve seen out games, 1-0, 2-0. We’re scoring goals and we’re creating opportunities and getting clean sheets and that’s probably what we’ve been lacking the most so far this season.”
Reflecting on their last trip to Dundee and their late, late show, he added: “In the last eight minutes we did deserve the points but apart from that, Dundee were the better team and we weren’t good enough on the day.
“To get the three points was massive and that kind of gave us a bit of a lift so we’ve learnt from that.
“They know that they probably should have got something from that game that day so they’ll be right up for it and hoping to get one back on us so we just need to be ready for it.”
