Arne Engels hopes Celtic can again be a Champions League machine.
The Belgian ace is excited for Tuesday’s showdown against RB Leipzig. Engels believes his side can secure a big result against the Bundesliga giants and the squad goes into the contest on the back of a 6-0 hammering of Aberdeen. The 21-year-old says the Parkhead side were purring against the Dons as he discussed how much he’s enjoying his start to the term.
Engels said: “It is going really well. Like I expected. The team is being brilliant. You saw it also the other night that we can be a real machine, actually. I think everybody is in a good state, everybody has a good mindset also. The season is going really well for us and it is now on to us to step up our game even more and I hope we will do that.”
Engels feels Celtic lift it again when facing the Germans and added: “We are expecting a really good team and we are really prepared for it.
“Everybody is really excited for the game and ready. I played some games against Leipzig, of course. I played in the Bundesliga, but every team has changed, every team is improving. It’s a different team from last year, so that’s clear. They are all really good players otherwise they don’t play in Leipzig
“But we have also a really good squad and we are also playing at home, so it’s a really exciting game for us and for the fans, I think. We want to win every game. That is our mindset and the mindset of Celtic, also. We are playing at home, so, of course, we want to put in a good performance and I think we will.”
Engels can’t wait to savour the Celtic Park Champions League experience again and added: “It will be amazing, I think. I cannot wait actually to see the fans again and the stadium, the crowd shouting and everything. It is going to be an amazing atmosphere and that will help us a lot. Like I said in previous interviews, it’s an amazing atmosphere that can push us to the limits.”
