BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – Election day is one day away and we’re continuing our coverage on one Mercer County candidate whose name was left off of some early voting ballots in Mingo County.
In the race against Mingo County Republican Craig Hart for West Virginia’s 6th Senate District, candidate Jeff Disibbio was reportedly left off of nearly 700 early voting ballots which instead showed the name of the previous democratic nominee, Randy Fowler.
Now we‘re told by a representative from the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office that those ballot results will count for Hart but won’t translate to votes for Disibbio if people voted for Fowler on their incorrect ballot.
The representative from the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office says the issue with the ballots could open the door for a potential challenge of the election results should Disibbio lose.
Early voting was paused in Mingo County after the issue was discovered last Monday and the issue was corrected.
