Janey Godley sadly died on Saturday after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer and her daughter has opened up on life after her death.
The much-loved comedian spent the last few weeks in a Glasgow hospice surrounded by her loved ones.

She penned: “The world feels so much quieter now you’re gone Ma.
“Thank you friends and strangers alike for the kind and loving noise you made today.”
Many friends and followers flocked to the comments to send Ashley love.
One penned: “Sending love and hugs to you all.”
Another added: “Sending you and our dad so much love, Ashley x.”
While one said: “What an incredible woman your Mammy was. I’m so sorry Ashley. Sending you & your Family so much love.”
And one commented: “Oh Ashley, you lovely girl. Janey has left us with such a big presence and so much fun and warmth and wisdom. Such an amazing woman for so many reasons. Big hugs to you.”
Tributes flooded in for Janey after the devastating news she had passed away on Saturday. After her cancer spread, Godley began to receive palliative care and she moved into a hospice in September 2024. Godley died aged 63, on November 2 at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow.
Former First Minister Nicola Sturgeon hailed the star “a true force of nature” after learning of her passing.
In an online tribute, she penned: “Knowing for the past few weeks that this moment was fast approaching didn’t make it any less heartbreaking to hear the news early this morning that Janey had died. Janey Godley truly was a force of nature, and one of the funniest people I have ever known.
“I was able to visit her in the hospice a couple of weeks ago and though she was fragile, she still had me in stitches. Janey was also incredibly kind. And she made the world a better place. A bond was forged between us in the darkest days of Covid when her famous voiceovers of my daily briefings went viral. In the toughest of times, she made people laugh – and that was precious.
“She did more that that though. In managing to project the serious public health messages of my briefings to a much wider audience than I would have managed alone, she helped save lives. The photos on this post are from an event we did together last year – it was a special night. I was so proud to call Janey a friend and will miss her hugely.
“My heart goes out to her family and many friends – they are in my thoughts today. I know Frank will have been there, holding the door for her as she went – with a tear in his eye, as I have in mine. RIP my friend.”
