Christmas excitement is building, and the big brands are rolling out their festive commercial campaigns with much fanfare.

Marks & Spencer is at the forefront, having unveiled its premiere Christmas advertisement.

This year’s M&S advert showcases their seasonal food range and is the first in a series of six ads set to be revealed in the subsequent weeks.

Comedienne Dawn French is the star of the show, assuming the role of a fairy godmother, a character she embraces for the very first time.

The ad is set against Elton John’s popular Step Into Christmas tune and depicts Dawn bringing some Christmas magic to various celebrations that feature delectable festive foods, reports the Express.

Showcasing M&S Foods slow-cooked turkey and the ‘Best Ever Yule Log,’ the commercial highlights some of Marks & Spencer’s top culinary offerings for Christmas.

In the advert, a fairy version of Dawn can be seen spreading enchantment throughout the home of the renowned broadcaster, prompting the start of the celebratory feasts. A spread laden with festive delicacies is presented, while in a different shot, Dawn metamorphoses into a sumptuously dressed fairy godmother.

Dawn enthused about her experience: “Let’s just say, Fairy meeting Dawn herself was quite THE moment! Who knew we’d ever share the same screen? Magic really does happen!

“I spent some time tasting this year’s unbelievably delicious Christmas food range from MandS… and can honestly tell you those hours might be my FAVOURITE moments from my whole year…

“As for making the ads… wait ’til you see them. We had such a laugh, and they’re so lush! Not gonna lie… Fairy was a diva. Who knew fairies could bite?!”

M&S Food Marketing Director Sharry Cramond remarked: “Last year, our Fairy added something truly magical to Christmas, and this year, we’re thrilled to take it to the next level, with Dawn French herself joining the fun alongside her Fairy character!”

Cramond continued, expressing aspirations for the campaign: “We’re always looking to push creative boundaries, and we believe this year’s campaign will leave our customers smiling and feeling super inspired.”

Further adding to the season’s sparkle, Cramond proudly announced: “To top it off, we’re honoured to feature the incredible Katherine Jenkins, adding even more festive magic to our screens!”

The promotional plan is set to include five additional adverts zeroing in on M&S’ array of Christmas food products.

Reports have also disclosed that one specific advert, scheduled to debut on 17 December, will showcase classical talent Katherine Jenkins performing amidst a choir.
