BAKERSFIELD, Cali. (Gray News) – An 18-year-old woman was hit by several drivers on a highway in California on Halloween night and died, according to California Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2008 Honda was driving about 55 to 60 mph in the number three lane of the highway, KBAK reported.

For unknown reasons, the woman wandered into the lane just before 6:45 p.m. Authorities said the Honda hit her and she landed in lane four, directly in the path of a Bentley, which subsequently also hit the pedestrian.

CHP initially told KBAK the woman was a skateboarder.

The drivers of the Honda and the Bentley remained on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

According to CHP, it is believed the woman may have been hit several times by unknown passing drivers.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.

No other injuries were reported. It is unclear if any charges were filed.
