HADDAM, Conn. (WFSB/Gray News) – A 5-year-old boy has died after suffering injuries from falling into the Connecticut River, officials said.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) said the boy, identified as Jaxon Podbielski, of Higganum, was pulled from the Connecticut River in Haddam on Oct. 26.
The child was transported to Connecticut Children’s Hospital in critical condition.
After five days in the hospital, he was pronounced dead on Thursday.
His official cause of death has not yet been determined.
DEEP says that due to the ongoing investigation, further details are not available at this time.
