The American foodie who rocketed to fame for his cult TV show Man vs Food has been spotted in Glasgow while filming the second season of Adam Richman Eats Britain.

While Adam Richman has refused to reveal where he’s visited for the series so far, he did document his first ever outing to Wetherspoons – and donated to a local homeless charity in the process.

The Brooklyn-born star became a became a household name for his starring role in Man vs Food, in which he travels around the U.S. to sample local delicacies and take on gut-busting eating challenges.

In a series of Instagram reels on Monday night, Richman revealed that he and his crew had ventured into The Sir John Moore Wetherspoons pub near Glasgow’s Central Station, and invited his 433,000 followers to order their food and drinks.

The Wetherspoons app allows diners to order items directly to their table, meaning that anyone in the UK can purchase and send items if they list the pub address and table number.

Richman was quick to reassure his followers that unlike his popular TV persona, he would not be wasting money on huge quantities of food, and would instead match any offerings from fans with donations to a local homeless charity.

He stressed: “My promise is there’s not only some homeless people up the street, there’s a mission not far from here. I’m not planning on wasting stuff and being a glutton, I fully intend upon sharing with the homeless people down the street.”

The self-declared gastronaut begged fans not to order the huge portions, or bizarre combinations, of food that they were used to seeing him tackle on screen. He warned “I don’t do that stuff any more y’all”, going on to joke “look, you can see cheekbones now!”

However, as orders began to crowd the table, it became clear that fans were challenging Richman to take on the extremes of Scottish pub grub. An innocent round of baby Guinnesses and bowls of chips were quickly followed by more surreal offerings, including plain slices of cheese, glasses of milk, and eggs with peas, which Richman described as a “modern masterpiece”.

The most outlandish dish was suggested by the star’s own film crew, who encouraged him to pour chocolate sauce on a bowl of haggis and garnish it with raw chillies. Richman eagerly accepted the revolting challenge, declaring “I bet this s**t is going to slap as hard as hell”.

Although many Scots were no doubt wincing at the unorthodox combination, Richman was a fan of the dish, comparing it to a traditional Mexican sauce called mole.

The presenter was also treated to an iconic pitcher of Venom, the neon green cocktail that was invented in Glasgow and consists of Vodka, Southern Comfort, Blue WKD, and orange juice. An amused waitress described the party drink as “a classic in Scotland”, but Richman warned that it looked more like Windex detergent.

True to his word, the presenter calculated the cost of all items bought for him and the crew, which came it at around £70. The TV star rounded the bill up to £100 to donate to the Glasgow City Mission, along with generous tips for the staff at Wetherspoons.

He said: “Thank you. You guys spent money during a time that’s a really rough time of the year just for me to have a really cool adventure, so I want to pay it forward to the folks here in Glasgow.”
