We all enjoy indulging in a sweet treat from time to time.
But would you be prepared to fork out an eye-watering £180 for the pleasure?
One social media duo, known as ‘ANGELLLBOYS’, are renowned for flaunting their lavish lifestyle to their 247,000 followers. They recently pulled out all the stops at a restaurant, splashing out hundreds of pounds on a single dessert.
The pair posted a reel on their Instagram page from a restaurant, with overlay text stating: “When you finally try the famous £360 tiramisu (£180 per person). The video showed a chef preparing the dessert before their eyes, pouring chocolate, coffee and cream onto sponge fingers.
However, it seems the extravagant display failed to impress many viewers, judging by the comments left on the post. Many people had one major gripe – that a proper tiramisu takes hours to make.
One commenter wrote: “Tiramisu MUST be made a minimum of 4-6 hours to taste half decent. In fact 24 hours is ideal. That’s just a sloppy tasteless mess.”
Another agreed, saying: “It’s better to serve overnight tiramisu so all the flavours will mix them up and get the best experience.” A third added: “Isn’t actual tiramisu soaked and chilled overnight?”
While a fourth chimed in: “Too much syrup, and it needs to cool off for a few hours in the fridge, that’s not tiramisu, are just some lady fingers between some cream soaked in coffee syrup.”
Many concurred that shelling out £360 for a dessert was “overpriced”, while some questioned the allure of having your sweet treat prepared before your eyes.
Although the ANGELLLBOYS boasted about the dessert’s fame, they kept quiet on its origin, and a swift Google search doesn’t readily reveal its source.
For those whose wallets aren’t as flush as the boys’, a more economical indulgence might be Tesco’s own tiramisu at a mere £3.30, or for a dash of opulence without breaking the bank, Waitrose offers their version for an enticing £2.55.
