Coverage of the 2024 US Election will be broadcasted on UK television tonight (November 5) as US citizens have been voting all across the United States to decide who will become the next president – Kamala Harris or Donald Trump.
Harris and Trump’s historical election campaigns have come to an end and we will shortly know who the next President of the United States will be. There is no exact time that the new president is announced at every election, as this often varies depending on when votes are finished being counted or if any recounts need to take place.
Rather, the results of exit polls from each state will be announced as the night goes on. These do not decide who wins, but rather shows who different demographics voted for.
Various TV channels will be broadcasting throughout the night, bringing live updates as the vote progresses. BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Sky news will all be broadcasting live straight from the states covering the US Presidential Election.
The US election runs differently from the UK elections, due to geography, time differences and the intricacies of the electoral collage. Depending on how close the result is, the winner’s confirmation could possibly take hours, days or potentially months – but everyone across the globe will be anxiously awaiting the results.
Whatever the results are will be a historical moment for the winner. If Kamala Harris wins, she will not only be the first female president but the first black female President of the United States.
If Donald Trump wins he will be the first incoming president to have been indicted and convicted of a felony, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Nobody knows what way the vote will swing. Will Trump return for his second term as president? Or will Harris win, and the US will remain a democratic presidency?
