Whitelee Windfarm will once again provide a safe space for visitors and their four-legged friends looking to escape the bangs on Bonfire Night.
Now in its eighth year, their Nae Fireworks Night event for worried dog owners and their stressed out pooches has grown in popularity with over 2000 visitors flocking to the windfarm on the outskirts of East Kilbride for an alternative dog-friendly Guy Fawkes Night.
The 130km of trails on the windfarm are the perfect place for dogs to escape the noise and stress of Bonfire Night.
Join the Whitelee Countryside Rangers for the peaceful event on Tuesday, November 5, from 5.30pm-10pm.
Enjoy a quiet walk in the company of other dog lovers where there will be charity stalls including the team from the Scottish SPCA who will be on hand for any information or advice you may need.
The visitor centre will be open from 6pm-9pm for hot drinks and cake. Visitors are advised to bring a reusable cup for a discount to help reduce waste.
New for this year, there will be coffee vans on both the grass in the visitor centre car park, and at turbine 40 at the bottom of the hill from the visitor centre. There will also be portaloos at turbine 40.
A spokesperson for East Renfrewshire Council said: “If you’re looking for somewhere quiet to get away and walk your dog(s), in the company of other like-minded owners, then Whitelee Windfarm is the place for you.
“The Whitelee Countryside Rangers, Whitelee Visitor Centre and ScottishPower Renewables staff will be on site to run the event and do our very best to maintain a firework-free zone – although please understand this can never be fully guaranteed! We recommend that dogs are kept on leads during the event.”
Please note spaces are limited and some restrictions will be in place to ensure all visitors are able to access facilities as required.
