The dream of a well-deserved holiday, with its promise of glorious weather, lighter attire and delicious food, is second-to-none.

That is, if everything goes according to plan. Recently, one woman’s much-anticipated sunny getaway didn’t quite live up to expectations.

Emily Jane, who goes by @emilyj.ne on TikTok, jetted off to Tenerife only to find that it wasn’t the sunshine-filled paradise she’d hoped for. Instead of basking in the sun, Emily found herself reaching for a poncho as relentless rain poured down, a stark contrast to the typical Tenerife climate.

A video she shared of her soggy experience has since left social media users howling with laughter. Despite the unexpected downpour dampening her holiday, Emily managed to keep spirits high, with her good humour shining through the dreary weather.

Her followers were quick to reassure her that the Canary Island doesn’t usually suffer from such wet conditions

One commenter remarked: “Surprisingly, we do get rain here. I know, shock right?” Meanwhile, another shared: “I was there last week, was raining. Went flying on my a***. Dangerous pavements in the rain.”

However, many chimed in to say that Tenerife’s weather isn’t always so grim. In fact, the upcoming two-week forecast promises much brighter days, with temperatures soaring to highs of 27°C in some parts of the island.

If you’re planning a trip to Tenerife, and want to catch the island at its hottest, consider booking your holiday between June and September. However, thanks to its sub-tropical climate, Tenerife enjoys sunshine all year round, making it an ideal destination for those seeking winter sun.

August is typically the warmest month, with temperatures often soaring to a sizzling 31°C, while the average low is a comfortable 22°C.
