Turnberry Hotel boss Donald Trump is heading back to the Oval Office after winning the race for the White House.
The Republican told thrilled supporters in Florida that they would usher in “a new golden age for America”.
Trump, who bought Turnberry in 2014, has since plunged more than £250 million into transforming the five star resort. He previously visited while President during his first term in 2018, sparking a huge security operation which involved a ring of steel being thrown around the golf course and hotel.
He was last on site in 2023 when visiting with family and friends on a golfing trip.
Speaking to the Ayrshire Post on the visit last year, Trump said: “What we have created here is so special. It is one of the best golf courses in the world and we are so proud of it.
“It’s been an honour to come here and do this — the people here have welcomed us and can see the improvements. And we will never stop improving. You always need to keep going and that’s exactly what we will do. It is a magical place and we will always look to make it better wherever we can.”
Son Eric, who runs the resort on behalf of the Trump Organisation, added: “My father has never hidden his love for Turnberry — he would be here far more often if time afforded him the chance. We always said we wanted to make a big difference here, and I think people can see we’ve done that and stuck true to our word.
“This is one of the jewels of the world. When we came in it was run down and there was no heart and soul being put into it. My father and I have had a huge involvement in the property since day one – we know every inch of every hole. We’re constantly investing and tweaking and the results speak for themselves.”
And that latest transformation work is now underway with the seventh and eighth holes on the iconic Ailsa course undergoing a £1.5 million revamp. The Ailsa course has been temporarily shut while the layout of both holes is altered to add an even more stunning challenge for golfers.
Flanked by his family and his pick for vice-president, JD Vance, Trump this morning told supporters in West Palm Beach: “This will truly be the golden age of America – that’s what we have to have.
“This is a magnificent victory for the American people that will allow us to make America great again.”
