With Donald Trump poised for another shot at the presidency, his adversaries are sounding alarms over the possibility of a second term.
It is estimated to be marked by radical policies and, as one Project 2025 architect put it, “a second American Revolution,” as reported in by the Mirror.
Project 2025 is a blueprint for Trump’s potential actions in office, crafted in 2022 by the conservative Heritage Foundation alongside 140 ex-Trump staff and supporters.
But what exactly does it involve? Read below to find out more.
What does Project 2025 entail?
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has blasted the document as “a roadmap for how to replace the rule of law with right-wing ideals”, condemning its dangerous consequences for civil rights and freedoms. Among its bold suggestions, the 922-page manifesto calls for a surge in presidential power and the replacement of up to 50,000 civil servants with Trump loyalists.
The plan doesn’t stop there; it also aims to overhaul the executive branch and lays out conservative policy proposals on issues ranging from immigration and abortion to free speech and racial justice. Critics are voicing their unease about the proposals, which include widespread deportation, restricting abortion access, and slashing funds for schools that teach disapproved subjects.
What’s the Democratic take on this? Ben Wikler, the chair of the Wisconsin Democratic Party, has criticised Project 2025 as “dangerous” in a press conference held in July. He pointed out that both Trump and Vance have praised the plan as being “full of good ideas,” but he argued that these ideas “aren’t just bad, they’re dangerous”, according to the Independent.
“They’re dangerous for our country,” he further added. “Donald Trump and JD Vance want to ransack the public treasury to hand out massive tax cuts to billionaires and stick working Americans with the bill. We know that they want to strip Americans of their basic freedoms, like access to reproductive health care, even threatening access to forms of contraception.
“We know that they not only want to leave working families behind, they want to kick them off the ladder of opportunity and pull up the ladder behind them. We know this not just because of what they they and their allies and their staff have laid out in plain ink in their Project 2025 plans,” he said.

Trump was forced to publicly distance himself from Project 2025 this summer after the leader of the Heritage Foundation, which drafted the document, hinted at a “second American Revolution”. Kevin Roberts, President of the Heritage Foundation, made a bold statement on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast.
Roberts said: “We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be”.
Donald Trump took to his social media platform and asserted: “I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”
Earlier in July, Ammar Moussa, from Biden’s team, had commented: “Project 2025 is the extreme policy and personnel playbook for Trump’s second term that should scare the hell out of the American people.”
