Suspected human remains have been found on a residential cul-de-sac as forensics teams have been spotted scouring the scene.
Cops confirmed on Wednesday November 6 suspected human remains were found in a field, and said the death is currently being treated as unexplained. Residents of Apple Grove, near Lyde Green in north-east Bristol, reported seeing several police vehicles, a fire engine and forensic officers on scene yesterday afternoon, with authorities returning today.
Forensic officers were spotted exiting their vehicles and heading down a small lane leading from the cul-de-sac towards Lyde Green Playing Fields. Local residents say emergency services have been back in the area for a second day running, describing it as “non-stop” since Tuesday, reports the Mirror.
Another resident says the “whole area” has been cordoned off by police.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “Police are investigating the discovery of suspected human remains in a field in Emersons Green. Officers were alerted just before midday on Tuesday 5 November by a member of the public.
“Police and fire crews attended, and further searches will be carried out today, Wednesday 6 November. Detectives have not yet been able to identify the remains, and the death is currently being treated as unexplained pending a forensic post-mortem examination. Anyone with any information which could help the investigation is asked to call 101 and give the reference 5224291560.”
