Katie and Rio Ferdinand’s young tot, Cree, was whisked off to hospital after sustaining an injury during a family holiday.
The 33-year-old mum shared the tense moments with her followers, posting a black and white image of Cree in the back of an ambulance, where she is seen planting a tender kiss on him as he rested on a stretcher.
The accompanying caption read: “We ended a fabulous trip with a broken collar bone. My boy just always gets injured!! It’s been sleepless nights, cuddles, tv and chocolate since.”
Kate revealed that the mishap occurred as their holiday drew to a close.
Emergency services were called to treat the youngster, rushing him to a local medical facility, reports the Mirror.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, share little Cree, aged three, and their newest addition, Shae, born last year. They also have Rio’s eldest kids – Lorenz, Tate, and Tia – his children from his previous marriage to Rebecca Ellison, who sadly passed away in 2015.
In a recent heartfelt tribute to her husband and former football icon Rio, reflecting on five years together, Kate posted a glamorous throwback snapshot of their opulent wedding in Turkey with a caption expressing her adoration: “5 years today, my best friend is Completely obsessed with us.”
The pair’s exchange of vows took place during a dreamlike ceremony on the shores of Marmaris, Turkey, surrounded by dear ones in 2019. On their wedding day, Rio shared with OK! magazine how fate had played its part in bringing Kate into his life, remarking that finding someone wasn’t his intention at the time.
“I didn’t think it was possible, I wasn’t open to bringing someone in to become a step-mum to the kids,” he said. “Things don’t always go the way you imagine. Meeting Kate changed everything and sometimes it’s just fate. I knew Kate was special from the moment I met her; it was pretty instant, but seeing her with the kids cemented everything; that was a huge part of it for me.”
Kate has also shared how her stepchildren help her out with Cree and Shae. She revealed the children all adore Shae and help out around the house.
She said: “Tia is really helpful. We’re happy we’ve got another girl on side! The boys are out a lot because of football, but they help me out with Cree, so I’m able to look after the baby.”
Kate said goodbye to her reality TV career when she transitioned into step-motherhood. She has confessed that she initially did not understand fully what she had signed up for when she started dating the football legend from Manchester United.
During an appearance on Anna Richardson’s It Can’t Just Be Me podcast, she said: “When I think back, I don’t know how we did navigate it and it’s a real big blur.”
Kate opened up about her unexpected journey into parenthood, saying: “I went from being a single, carefree girl to a stepmum-of-three. And these kids have gone through so much, and there’s grief. It’s all a bit of a blur.”
She reflected on the unpredictability of life changes, adding: “It’s hard to know what you’re getting into sometimes until you’re actually in it. Until you’re in it, you don’t really realise. I felt a little bit shocked, I didn’t really know how to parent.”
