A fire has broken out in a block of flats in Edinburgh, with authorities reporting a “number of casualties.”

There has been a large emergency services response to the incident on Niddrie Mill Crescent in Edinburgh on Wednesday night, following reports of a fire in a ground-floor flat.

More than a dozen emergency vehicles, including fire service, ambulance, and police, have been pictured at the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they were alerted to the address at 6:35 p.m. this evening, and crews are currently still at the scene.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson told The Record: “We were alerted at 6:35 p.m. on November 6 to reports of a ground-floor flat on Niddrie Mill Crescent in Edinburgh.

“There are three appliances and one height appliance in attendance at the three-storey block of flats.

“There are a number of casualties who are in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service, with some being treated at the scene.

“We are still in attendance.”
