A historic Scottish hotel has been named the “best value” getaway spot in the country.

On Monday, the winners of the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2025 were unveiled. The world-renowned awards celebrate the best hotels and experiences around the globe.

Within the UK categories, two Scottish hotels took home top prizes. Murrayshall Country House won the award for Best Value Experience, while Inverlochy Castle received the prize for Best Immersive Experience.

Murrayshall Country House is situated in the heart of Perthshire, around just three miles from the centre of Perth, and set amidst 365 acres of tranquil countryside. The luxury four-star country house, which was the historic former home of Lord Lynedoch in Perthshire, dates back more than 400 years.

The hotel is home to 40 rooms and suites, including both family and dog-friendly suites. All of the rooms come with Ishga hand soap and body wash, as well as Gordon Castle shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and soap bars.

Meanwhile, Murrayshall Country House also serves up award-winning food and drink at its various restaurants and bars. Among the eateries on offer are the Eòlas “refined dining” venue and the “intimate” Barossa bar.

Outside, the grounds feature 27-holes of parkland golf, as well as various other activities for all ages and tastes. The hotel is also home to a spa that offers a range of treatments including facials and deep tissue and hot stones massages.

Elsewhere, winner of the Best Immersive Experience award Inverlochy Castle is located near Fort William close to Ben Nevis. The five-star hotel is housed within a 19th century castle, and features a range of luxury rooms and suites.

Inverlochy Castle is also home a fine-dining restaurant overseen by two Michelin star chef Michel Roux Jr. Seasgair serves up a five-course set menu, featuring dishes French dishes infused with Scottish ingredients.
