Coatbridge kid Ryan One netted his maiden goal for Sheffield United’s first team last night as he helped spark a comeback win over Bristol City in an English Championship clash.
The 18-year-old, who came through the academy at Hamilton Accies and scored four first team goal before landing a big move south last season, came on as a 69th minute substitute and equalised in the 86th minutes for the Blades, before Harrison Burrows struck in the eighth minute of stoppage time to pull off an unlikely win.
It was only One’s third first team appearance for Sheffield, having made his debut at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal in the Premier League last season.
The son of former Partick Thistle and Stranraer hero Armand, One is considered a talented prospect and the Scotland under-19 international has impressed Blades boss Chris Wilder.
After the win for Sheffield, Wilder said: “Ryan could have gone out on-loan, but in our environment, we always felt he’d benefit more, in and amongst the group and it is a goal that Ryan will remember forever.
“We had been wanting to get Ryan on the pitch and he took that opportunity. Why it took the last 20 minutes for us to play with more drive and intensity I don’t know but you have to give the players an enormous amount of credit.”
One has been included in the Scotland U19 squad for their Euro 2025 qualifying triple-header with Wales, Liechenstein and France later this month, which are all being played on home soil at Forthbank and Cappielow.
