Shedding pounds isn’t always a walk in the park, which is why people are constantly on the lookout for tips and tricks to aid their weight loss journey.

A particular weight loss drink recently sparked widespread interest. TikTok creator @myhealthandbeautyrecipes has divulged a straightforward juice recipe they allege can help individuals “torch calories like crazy”. The creator touts the simplicity of the recipe, noting it requires just a handful of ingredients.

In a video, the TikTok user details the process: “First, take a banana, cut it into pieces, and mash it well in a bowl. Bananas are high in fibre, but low in calories. High fibre intake is linked to reduced body weight. Next, add the juice of one lemon, and mix well.

“Lemon juice is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and fibre, which boost your metabolic rate and aid in detoxification. Peel half a cucumber and grate it into a new bowl. Cucumbers are low in calories and high in water.”

They then recommend tossing in some grated ginger for its reputed benefits in accelerating weight loss and curbing hunger. After mixing all the components in a pot with three cups of boiling water and letting it steep for a few hours, the blend should be strained.

The suggestion is to consume this concoction 15 minutes before each meal to potentially witness your body fat “transform” by the day. Since its upload, the video amassed thousands of views, with numerous viewers keen to give the weight loss drink a whirl.

One enthusiastic commenter expressed: “I really hopes this works for me, because I did the lemon, salt and sugar recipe and it didn’t work.” Another user excitedly shared: “Thank you. I will try.” A third commenter chimed in with: “Great tip.”

While the effectiveness of this super juice may be uncertain, there’s promising news about each ingredient. As part of a balanced diet, bananas can aid in weight loss due to their high fibre content, which helps control appetite, and their richness in potassium, which could boost metabolism and encourage fat burning.

However, moderation is essential, as bananas are relatively high in calories compared to other fruits. This should be taken into account when adding them to your diet.

In contrast, cucumbers are extremely low in calories, with a 300g cucumber containing only about 45 calories. Beyond being low in energy, they possess antioxidant properties and have a 96% water content, both of which contribute to a feeling of fullness.

Lemons, rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, also play a role in promoting immune health and potentially increasing metabolic rate. Furthermore, ginger may also contribute to the weight loss journey, as evidence suggests it can accelerate metabolism, stimulate fat burning, and possibly influence body weight and fat absorption.
