Liam Payne’s funeral will include “a series of song tributes” because the One Direction star “loved making music until the end”, it has been claimed.
A-listers will flock to pay their respects to the 31-year-old musician, who earned global fame through The X Factor and passed away several weeks ago in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Insiders claim that Liam would have wanted the ceremony to be “low-key and respectful”, but it is understood that his family are keen to include a tribute to his passion for music.
There will be “a series of song tributes from some very big acts” at the funeral, which is expected to be held in Liam’s home city of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands, on Friday according to The Mirror.
An insider told Radar Online: “His family want to keep his farewell low-key and respectful, as it’s what Liam would have wanted as he was so down to earth. But there are going to be a series of song tributes from some very big acts as he loved singing and making music until the end.”
They added: “Liam’s funeral is going to be packed with A-listers as he was so well-loved in the showbiz community, and so many of them are so sad about his tragic death.”
Heartbroken fans have already left tributes to Liam outside St. Peter’s Collegiate Church in central Wolverhampton this week. Handwritten messages and flowers were laid at the foot of the nearby Lady Wulfrun statue, while residents held a candlelit vigil for the star outside his old school, St Peter’s Collegiate Academy, last month.
The news of Liam’s early death sent shockwaves across the globe, after the star was reported to have fallen from his third-flood hotel balcony during a holiday to Argentina.
Broadcast journalist Paula Varela said: “There is footage that is not being released to the media with the balcony scene where you see that Liam faints and tragically because of where he is, falls from that balcony. If he had been beside his bed he would have fallen on his bed.”
The star had travelled to South America to support his former bandmate Niall Horan, who was touring to promote his third studio album, ‘The Show’.
After the news of Payne’s death, musician Sam Pounds announced plans to release a single featuring contributions from Liam Payne as a further tribute to the star’s enduring musical legacy. However, Sam quickly postponed the posthumous single out of respect for Liam’s grieving family.
Taking to social media, the musician wrote: “I’m deciding to hold ‘Do No Wrong’ and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds [to] go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire).”
He added: “Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet. We are all still morning [sic] the passing of Liam, and I want the family to morn [sic] in peace and in prayer. We will all wait.”
