BECKLEY, W.Va. – As the holiday season approaches, the United Way of Southern West Virginia is spreading festive cheer with its 16th annual Wonderland of Trees.
This beloved event has become a holiday tradition, bringing the community together while raising funds to support local programs and initiatives.
This year, the event will showcase 41 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, each one a unique creation by local community members, organizations, and churches.
Every tree tells a story, and visitors are encouraged to vote for their favorite—adding an element of fun and friendly competition to the festivities.
For the first time, the event will be held at the Tamarack Marketplace in Beckley, a new venue organizers hope will draw even more visitors.
With Tamarack’s high volume of foot traffic, the United Way is excited to expand the event’s reach, allowing more people to come together to celebrate the season and support a great cause.
“We’re really excited about that. We know that Tamarack has a lot of visitors. We know that there’ll be a lot of foot traffic through here and one of the parts of Wonderland is that we offer the People’s Choice award to the tree that gets the most votes,” says Trena Dacal, the United Way’s executive director. “Decorators are always excited about the People’s Choice Award, and we’re excited for them to participate and appreciate them doing so every year.”
The Wonderland of Trees will run from November 8th to November 22nd and will be open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM.
- It costs $1 to vote for your favorite tree
- Prize: All voters will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a $500 gift card.
- Tree Auction: The winner will be announced on November 22nd during the tree auction.
