Viewers of the popular Channel 4 programme A Place in the Sun witnessed buyers put a halt to their property viewing after discovering a significant issue with a ‘perfect’ holiday home in Greece.
In Thursday’s instalment, presenter Jasmine Harman was assisting builder Mark and financial planner Sally in their quest for an ideal abode under the Grecian sun.
Their property hunt unfolded in the eastern Peloponnese region of Greece with the pair having set aside £200,000. They sought a house within walking distance of local amenities, desiring proximity to bars and eateries without being isolated.
Mark and Sally, who became acquainted 14 years earlier through a running club, emphasised that location was paramount, particularly a coastal setting, and required ample space for visits from any of their six children.
Additionally, the dwelling boasted an encompassing patio garden, a barbecue zone, and an elevated front terrace all notably under their budget as it was listed for £148,500. Despite being initially impressed, especially by the price, a major flaw was quickly identified, reports the Mirror.
As they took in the residence, Sally declared its perfection, but her opinion shifted upon arriving upstairs where she confessed her ‘disappointment’ upon seeing the view, lamenting: “I can see this working but I am struggling with a white shed in front of me.”
Speaking to Jasmine, Sally expounded: “It’s a lovely house but it’s just quite not in the right place. It’s got a view but there is something in front of it that we can’t change.”
Mark chimed in with a critical observation: “And it’s far away from the beach, restaurants and things.” Jasmine, ever hopeful, queried: “So is this one in the running?”
However, the couple quickly dismissed the option, both firmly stating: “No.” Jasmine summarised their thoughts: “So you like this style and you are happy with the space but the drawbacks really are the view and you want to be closer to everything.”
Sally confirmed their ideal: “Yes that would be perfect.” Ultimately, the pair chose not to make an offer on any of the properties, meaning their quest for the perfect holiday home goes on.
