BECKLEY, W.Va. – A Fayette County man was convicted of two counts sexual assault and strangulation, the Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney announced.

According to the Prosecuting Attorney, 28-year-old Raymond L. Withrow of Falls View, was convicted of two-counts of second-degree sexual assault, strangulation, and violation of a domestic violence protective order. This came after a two day jury trial in Fayette County.

Withrow was on trial for two sexual assaults that happened in March 2024 which the Prosecuting Attorney said involved the same victim and a victim Withrow was acquainted with.

The victim reported that Withrow also choked her to the point of almost losing consciousness during the first sexual assault, the Prosecuting Attorney said. The victim got a domestic violence protective order against Withrow, and the Prosecuting Attorney said Withrow violated it by sending a message through Facebook messenger to a third party, and asking that third party to pass the message to the victim.

Withrow is scheduled for sentencing on January 10, 2025 and faces prison sentences of 10-25 years for each count of second-degree sexual assault, 1-5 years for strangulation, and 1 year for the domestic violence protective order violation.
