CHICAGO (Gray News) – An Illinois woman picked up everything on her list while at the grocery store, including a bonus lottery jackpot.
According to the Illinois Lottery, the woman, who asked to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket while she was shopping on Oct. 20 at a Jewel-Osco grocery store in the Elmhurst area.
The lucky player ended up matching all five numbers in that evening’s drawing to score a $1 million prize.
The winning numbers were: 2-3-24-25-28.
And the winner said she forgot about the ticket until checking the numbers a few days later.
“I actually put the ticket in my purse and forgot all about it,” she said. “A couple days after the drawing I saw the ticket in my purse and checked if it was a winner.”
The lottery player said she was shocked to see how much her ticket was worth after scanning it on the lottery app.
“I immediately saw $1 million on the screen, and I was in total shock,” she said. “I scanned it again and I instantly started crying. I thought, ‘This is unbelievable.’”
According to lottery officials, the woman won the $1 million prize while playing the Lucky Day Lotto game.
Now, the winner says she has some big travel plans.
“What I’m most excited about is being able to afford annual trips to my favorite place in the whole world: Ireland,” the woman shared. “I can now look forward to these trips every year.”
