A man’s life turned into a ‘comedy show’ after he was compelled to attend a job interview sporting a fake moustache.
He recounted on Reddit how he had affixed the faux facial hair for his Halloween outfit, only to find it wouldn’t come off due to his flatmate duping him into using “super heavy-duty glue”.
The fella shared: “The next day I wasn’t able to get it off. I was majorly annoyed, but there wasn’t anything I could do. I had a job interview and had to show up with this fake moustache. I had rehearsed a stupid line of how I liked to make people laugh, and this is how I liked to test how healthy an office culture was.
“Well, the interviewer (my new boss) didn’t realise it was fake. He had a moustache in the same style as my fake one. The interview went well, and he ended it with some comment of how great my moustache looked.”
After finally removing the stubborn moustache, he opted to reapply it for his first workday to ensure his new boss would recognise him. He explained his rationale: “Was probably stupid, but I decided to wear the fake moustache to my first day of work today as to not disappoint my new boss. He made another comment today of how much he liked my moustache. Now I feel like I have to keep wearing this thing.”
Most people found his ordeal hilarious, while some thought it was reminiscent of a comedy sketch. One user humorously suggested: “Grow a real one under the fake one, then later on glue the fake moustache with some weaker glue on top of the real one and have it fall off in front of your boss.”
Another added their anticipation for the concluding act: “This is an incredible setup for a comedy bit, I’m just waiting to see how you stick the landing.” A different user offered a simple exit strategy: “Silly. Just say you shaved it off if he asks.” Another commenter joined in with a playful idea: “Why stop at a moustache? What other fake hair and features can you add? Double down.”
