Police have said they are “extremely concerned” for a fisherman who has been missing for over a year. Robert Gibson, known as Bob, was reported missing on October 23, 2023, but it is believed he was last seen the previous month.

The 74-year-old from Banff is described as being around 5ft 7in height, slim build and with thinning, grey hair. There is no last confirmed sighting of Bob, and, as such, police are unable to say what clothes Bob may have been wearing.

Cops said Bob generally kept himself to himself but was well known in the local area. He often walked in the area of Duff house and was a keen fisherman. He is also known by local golfers as he would return their lost golf balls which he found when out on his walks.

Detective Inspector Andrew Wilson said: “More than a year has passed since Bob was reported missing and we remain extremely concerned for him. Bob was known to walk a route along the River Deveron and extensive land and water searches were carried out with no trace of him.

“All other enquiries have also not found any trace of him. I would ask anyone who may have seen Bob or who has any information on where he may have gone to contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call officers, quoting incident number 1990 of 23 October, 2023.
