An Inverness chippy has been crowned the “best fish and chip shop” in Scotland.
Earlier this week, the winners of Scotlands Business Awards were unveiled. The annual awards, which celebrate the top food, drink, and hospitality businesses across the country, were held in Glasgow on Monday evening.
The coveted Best Fish and Chip Shop in Scotland prize went to Dougie’s Chippy in Inverness. The family-run business scooped the top award just 17 months after first opening its doors on June 1, 2023.
Dougie’s Chippy offers both sit-in dining and takeaways, as well as home delivery. According to its website, it serves “the freshest fish, perfectly cooked golden chips, and all the classic chippy favourites”.
As well as fish suppers, the menu at Dougie’s Chippy includes a range of “chip shop classics” such as smoked sausage, black pudding, and deep fried pizza. It also serves up burgers, chicken wings, fish cakes, and more.
Taking to Facebook to share the news, Dougie’s Chippy wrote: “WE DID IT. THE BEST FISH & CHIP SHOP IN SCOTLAND.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you that got us here, with all your support and votes. We are now recognised as SCOTLAND’S BEST FISH & CHIP SHOP!
“My promise was to be the best in INVERNESS. Now we are voted THE BEST IN SCOTLAND!
“Dreams really do come true and from the bottom of my heart, I can not put into words how grateful I am to you all, especially my team that have made this come true for me.”
The post continued: “THE BEST IN SCOTLAND. Lost for words.
“So happy and proud. THANK YOU ALL SO SO MUCH.”
