A inquest into the death of mum Victoria Taylor heard that the provisional cause of death was drowning.
The mum was found dead in a river by police divers 22 days after she went missing from her home in North Yorkshire on October 1.
The 34-year-old was reported missing by her fiancé and her disappearance sparked a massive police search.
Her body was found near a clearing where her belongings had been left leading to an outpouring of grief, the Mirror reports.
She left behind fiance Matthew Grant Williams, and their two-year-old daughter.
Area coroner Catherine Cundy formally opened the inquest into her death this morning in the North Yorkshire’s county council’s chambers in Northallerton. She told the five minute hearing: “Miss Taylor was reported missing by her fiancé on October 1st.
“Extensive searches were carried out and sadly Miss Taylor’s body was recovered from the River Derwent on 22nd October. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The provisional cause of death was drowning….there are no interested parties present in court at this time.”
Ms Cundy spoke to confirm Ms Taylor’s name, date of birth and said that she worked as a “nurse in a care home”. No family attended the hearing, which was recorded and the coroner formally adjourned the inquest with a date to be decided.
A memorial to celebrate her life will be held later this month.
Victoria was seen on CCTV at a local garage buying a Dr Pepper soft drink and a bottle of water before she was spotted walking towards the river.
Her disappearance captured national news attention. Her family and friends organised daily searches to scour the riverbank every day alongside police divers.
Victoria’s body was found before midday on October 22. After the tragedy, her family gathered by the riverside to light candles.
Friends described her as “one of the purest souls this world has seen” and said “she always made sure everyone around her was loved, cherished, safe and happy.”
The nursing home nurse was also described as a “bundle of joy” as relatives of some of her residents also told of her kindness.
