Scores of scooter club members will take part in a special rally this Saturday in tribute to those who died while serving in Britain’s Armed Forces.

The event has been organised by the High Numbers Scooter Club and will leave from the Black Bull in Cambuslang and stop off at a number of cenotaphs in South Lanarkshire and in Glasgow.

Meeting at 10.45am on Saturday morning for the 11am rideout, the members of High Numbers SC will travel to East Kilbride where they will join up with the Incognito Scooter Club at Leeburn before the swarm of scooters will head along East Mains Road to visit the war memorial in East Kilbride’s War Memorial Park.

The riders will then travel back into Cambuslang and visit the memorial there before moving on to Rutherglen Cenotaph; Bridgeton war memorial at Glasgow Green; the Dennistoun war memorial at Alexandra Park; and then the Royal Highland Fusiliers memorial just off John Knox Street next to Glasgow Cathedral; before arriving at George Square Cenotaph in the city centre.

Between 60 and 80 riders are set to participate in the annual event and a number of short services will be held during the stops to remember those who died during both World Wars.

Each rider is expected to make a donation that will be handed over to a veterans’ charity.
