Fans of hit Netflix show convinced stunt double was used for a hug after feud rumours

Netflix viewers are baffled after seemingly spotting that a stunt double was used for a ‘cuddle’ scene after rumours of a feud between two actors.

On Thursday, the latest episodes of the teen drama Outer Banks were released on the streaming platform, leaving fans in tears after the apparent death of one of the lead characters at the end of season 4.

The show first premiered in 2020, boasting actors in the cast including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey and Rudy Pankow.

It follows a group of teenagers who go on a quest searching for treasure, set in a coastal town along the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

There have been rumours in the past among fans of the series that there is a rift between Madison, 25, and Rudy, 26, who play protagonists Kiara and JJ respectively.

In a video posted on social media several years ago, Madison stressed that she had ‘no problems’ with Rudy, calling out fans for claiming that there was ‘beef’ between them.

However, a moment in one of the latest episodes of Outer Banks has left viewers scratching their heads and speculating once more about their friendship off-screen.

The scene in question saw the pair of them sitting with others around a campfire, with Kie lying on JJ’s chest.

However, the way that that camera cut between close-ups of the actors’ faces meant that they were never actually seen on screen at the same time, resulting in viewers deducing that stunt doubles might have been used in their place.

‘Everything I hear about that Outer Banks show is crazy… what do you mean they had stunt doubles for a cuddle scene because the actors couldn’t be civil for a single scene,’ @qucrate wrote on X.

‘No way they had a JJ stunt double when Kie was laying on him??????’ @bellaisa20012 asked incredulously, while @wildest_bella said that they found the situation ‘absolute insanity’.

@m6ybank added: ‘I’m genuinely shocked at the stunt double thing like they couldn’t of just??? layed on eachother??? for 30 seconds?? [sic].’

‘Stunt doubles for a cuddle is just crazy I have never seen this in my life??’ @imane_ugh added.

This month, it was confirmed that Outer Banks had been renewed for a fifth and final season.
