Alison Hammond faces not one but two comical gaffes in the upcoming episode of The Great British Bake Off.The host first stirs concern when she slips backward off a kitchen worktop, disappearing from view and landing with a loud thud, leaving only her feet visible at the edge.
In the same episode, celebrating ’70s Week, Alison takes another tumble—this time off a space hopper, leaving her co-host Noel Fielding doubled over with laughter. The playful chaos kicks off when Noel jokingly tells viewers they’re aiming for a “very serious, sophisticated show” in the lead-up to the quarter-final.
He insists there will be “absolutely no disco balls or lava lamps”—just as Alison enters, bouncing on an orange space hopper and shouting, “Yee har, ride the pony baby!” Amused, Noel asks for a turn, but Alison soon takes a tumble, reports the Mirror.
Once dusted off, Alison rejoins the bakers, busy with their technical challenge, but more chaos ensues. Trying to perch on the worktop with flair, Alison tips backward, her legs flying up.
“I’m just going to add a little bit of happiness in here,” she quips, just before losing her balance. Amid gasps, Georgie exclaims, “She fell off!” and Alison, sprawled behind the counter, laughs: “Don’t come over here. Leave me. Leave me with my shame.”
Reassuring fans, a show source confirmed Alison wasn’t hurt: “She was absolutely fine—the only thing injured was her pride.” Still puzzled by her fall, Alison tries a re-enactment, muttering, “What did I do wrong?” while limping away in mock agony.
Airing Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4, the episode will reveal which of the five remaining bakers will secure a place in the quarter-final ahead of the grand final on November 26. Currently, bookmakers have Georgie Grasso and 20-year-old Dylan Bachelet neck-and-neck as favorites for the win.
