A savvy woman has shared how she’s raked in over £6,000 on Vinted and highlighted mistakes other sellers make.

If your wardrobe is overflowing, it might be time to declutter – and turning to online sales is a wise choice. While eBay, Depop, and Facebook Marketplace are established sites for selling pre-loved clothes, Vinted has become a strong competitor.

One seller believes that understanding common errors is crucial for big sales on the popular app. Financial expert and content creator Hannah Bevington has consistently made substantial earnings by flogging her clothes online.

Hannah stated: “I made £6,000 from literally just selling on Vinted.” Her advice has garnered thousands of likes.

Many people tend to underprice their items online, but Hannah advises that if something was originally expensive, you should set a higher price. The self-styled ‘finance girl’ shared her insights on her TikTok page @hannahbevington, urging: “Stop selling things for £10 on Vinted.”

“Even my friends do this, they will have an item which is worth £40 and will put it on Vinted and then will happen is someone will offer them £8 and they’ll get really p**ed off because the person that’s buying that item just thinks oh they’re just selling it for £10 and is clearly desperate for money.”

“You look desperate,” she added.

Hannah advises increasing the price of your current and future listings. Her second suggestion is to build up a substantial portfolio – she insists that you need to have a minimum of 100 items on your Vinted page. “It might mean that you have to spend every Sunday uploading 20 items on Vinted,” she said.

“If you want to be selling consistently every week, you can’t expect that with literally just 10 items on your page,” she pointed out.

Listing more items ensures a more regular income, she noted. To get the perfect photographs, the successful seller insists on snapping your items in daylight or using a white background.

Hannah added: “You don’t have to overcomplicate it. If you’re taking something in the dark, before you go to bed and it’s all pixelated and the lighting it s**t, I’m sorry but you’re not helping yourself.”

“You’re going to make 100 times harder for you to sell the item.”

Hannah also advised that if someone offers you 50% less than the asking price, you shouldn’t accept it. She also noted that it may take a few months for items to sell but they eventually will.

“People will pay it, trust me,” she added. Although it may not seem like a lot, Hannah insists it has a significant impact.

“It might only be a few pounds but it makes a huge difference,” she said. When it comes to packaging items to be sent, Hannah advises against buying pricey envelopes or boxes from the Post Office.

Instead, she recommends searching for affordable alternatives on eBay by typing in ‘Jiffy bags’ or ‘plastic shipping bags’, which brings up a variety of options at cheap prices. According to Hannah, purchasing these in bulk lasts her the entire year.

“It’s saving me so much money,” she added.
