An enchanting English retreat has left visitors utterly captivated, drawing comparisons to the idyllic residence of Colin Firth‘s character in the film Love Actually.
It’s essential every so often to take a breather and recuperate from the daily grind, be it the demands of family life, work pressures, or a hectic social schedule that’s wearing you thin – perhaps it’s time to pencil in that much-needed mini break. While jetting off overseas has its allure, the UK boasts a wealth of staycation treasures that are not only closer to home but can also be more wallet-friendly.
Actor and content creator Katie Offiler has caused quite the stir online after declaring the Dragonfly Cabin at Crafts Hill Barn Boutique as the finest Air BnB she’s ever experienced. She described the location as “so lovely” and “dreamy”.
This charming rustic suite is lovingly managed by Jo and Tim, a married duo, on what was once an operational farm in Dry Drayton, Cambridge. The Dragonfly Cabin features a secluded wild swimming lake, al fresco living areas, fire pits, and a breathtaking garden space.
Upon arrival, guests are treated to a kitchen spa brimming with coffees, hot chocolate, tea, and flapjacks, while breakfast is conveniently delivered each morning. Spa treatments can be enjoyed right at your lodge, and if you fancy exploring, Cambridge centre is merely a short drive away, or opt for an electric bike rental directly from the farm.
During the winter months, visitors can indulge in mulled wine served in the workshop on-site. “Help yourself to a glass on arrival,” invite the hospitable owners.
Jo, speaking on Crafts Hill Barn’s TikTok page, urged: “Slow down and immerse yourself in nature. Our Dragonfly Cabin is the perfect Autumn escape, you can watch the leaves fall into the swimming pond or dive through them if you’re feeling brave!”
She further added: “If you’re looking for a tranquil stay, our cosy cabin is perfect. Right at the edge of a wild swimming pond, surrounded by nature but only an hour from London.”
Visitor Katie, who shared a sneak peek inside the Dragonfly Cabin, has garnered over 200,000 views on her video, describing the experience as “so healing”. One viewer commented: ” This reminds me of love actually when Colin Firth stays to write his books! ” “I want to take myself on a solo date here,” another suggested, while a third remarked: “Wow this is incredible,” Many others praised the space as tranquil, beautiful, and charming.
Co-owner Jo cautioned that the space gets booked up quickly, with only a few slots available before Christmas. Summer dates should be open for booking soon.
