Outlander actor Sam Heughan, who portrays fan-favourite Jamie Fraser on the Starz show, has sent out an urgent plea to fans.

His warning on social media comes ahead of the show’s return, with the second half of season 7 set to drop on November 22.

Sam and his co-star Caitriona Balfe, who plays the show’s main protagonist, Claire Fraser, recently waved goodbye to the series after more than a decade of filming.

In moving social media posts, they recently revealed filming had wrapped on their final scenes for Outlander season 8, which should air sometime in 2025.

However, Sam has since taken to Instagram to warn his fans about threats online, which appear to be becoming more frequent ahead of the show’s return.

On his Instagram Story earlier this week, Sam told his 4.3 million followers: “Please be careful on social media. So many scammers.

“I will never reach out or message on Instagram/Twitter/WhatsApp/Google hangout/etc Or ask for money.

“If it’s not verified it’s not me,” he added. “No[r] will my agent/family/publicist etc… Or Telegram!”

Today, Sam shared another announcement about online fraudsters with his fans, calling out one who was using the name ‘Sabrina’.

The scammer’s message read: “Hello, It is an honor to reach out to you on behalf of Sir Sam Heughan, who has personally recognized your exceptional dedication and enthusiasm as a fan.

“As a gesture of his sincere appreciation for your unwavering support, he is extending to you a rare and meaningful opportunity to engage in a personal dialogue with him.”

The message went on to ask the sender to act “as soon as possible”, which is a classic scamming tactic.

It ended: “Thank you for your longstanding support, which means so much to both Sir Sam Heughan and the entire team.” (sic)

The actor screenshotted the message with the word “FAKE” and a red cross over the top of it, before adding: “And not very bright…”

Sam and Caitriona recently celebrated filming 100 episodes of Outlander, which is based on Diana Gabaldon’s book series of the same name.

Fans have been promised a tear-jerking but ultimately happy finale to the show when season eight comes to an end.

Following the closure of Lionsgate+ in the UK, new episodes of Outlander will be available on Starz and to stream on Prime Video channel MGM+ from Sunday, November 22. You must be an Amazon Prime member before you can sign up for MGM+.
