Two people have been found dead inside a property after a fierce blaze ripped through the building in the early hours of this morning.

Police have now launched an investigation into the inferno to establish what caused the fatal fire. Emergency services raced to the scene at around 4.50am.

A video circulating online showed several police cars arriving at the scene with their sirens flashing. Fire crews were also called to the Coventry address to extinguish the blaze.

The Mirror reports the emergency services were responding to reports that a blaze erupted at the property in the Stoke Aldermoor area of the city in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews attended the address on The Coppice at around 4.50am and the two people found within the property were confirmed dead at the scene. They have yet to be identified.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after the deaths of two people whose bodies were found following a house fire in Coventry today. We were called to an address on The Coppice in Coventry at around 4.50am.

“Sadly, two people were confirmed dead at the scene and we are now working to identify them. Our officers are liaising closely with West Midlands Fire Service, who are working to identify the cause of the fire.”

Locals paid their respects on social media. One person wrote on Facebook: “That’s a street away from me. My condolences are with all the family.”
