Confident Cyriel Dessers insists he isn’t scared to miss golden chances because it’s the same affliction which the world’s best strikers suffer from.
The Nigeria international has never been shy to pump himself and the Ibrox side up and now admits Glasgow wouldn’t be his home if he improved his conversion rate. Dessers scored in the 1-1 Europa League draw with Olympiacos but still came in for criticism from pundits and punters alike over his overall impact. But the former Feyenoord forward is unbowed and believes his determination to miss chances is a trait shared with some of football’s ultimate marksmen.
Dessers said: “This is life as a striker. I was watching the Champions League this week, and I see unbelievable strikers miss chances. So who am I, as Cyriel Dessers, not to miss chances? Obviously, you’re always going to miss more than you score. That’s the life of a striker. You know that there will always be a perception about that, but that’s life. If I would score three chances every game then I would probably not be at Rangers either.”
