If you use your oven regularly, you will probably notice that the racks can turn greasy very quickly.

This is due to the grime, burnt food and baked-on grease that builds up over time – and if you don’t clean it regularly, it can become a bit of a challenge to remove the dirt.

Keeping your oven racks clean is essential especially if you are cooking food directly on it.

Although cleaning the oven can often feel like a tedious and time-consuming task, there are tips that can help make it quicker and more manageable, reports the Mirror.

Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, a person wrote: “What is the best way to clean greasy oven racks?”

The post received over 50 comments from fellow group members, each recommending their favourite methods, with many suggesting Oven Pride for a sparkling finish.

Whilst one wrote: “Oven Pride. You put the shelf in a bag overnight and clean it with a soap pad in the morning, comes up like new.”

Another stated: “I agree with all of the above. Oven Pridge really is a miracle cleaner, dissolves grease like you wouldn’t believe it.”

The company behind the all-in-one oven cleaner stated: “Transform your oven with our powerful all-in-one cleaning system, which tackles tough grease and burnt-on food to five unbeatable results and leaves your oven sparkling clean.”

Oven racks are simply placed inside the Oven Pride Bag, which means “no mess and no scrubbing.”

Oven Pride oven cleaner can be purchased from retailers including Asda, Tesco and Waitrose. The price can vary based on where you buy it from – currently, Asda is selling it for £3.45, Tesco has it on sale for £3.50, and Waitrose sells it for £4.20.

You should wipe down the racks after every use, and it is recommended to deep-clean your oven every three months. Although if you use it more often, you may need to increase this to once a month.

Another method for cleaning your oven involves using baking soda, a reliable sponge, and a non-scratch scour pad, as recommended by Erin, a natural cleaning expert and the creator of the Lemons Lavender and Laundry blog.

Start your oven cleaning by generously covering the glass with baking soda. Dampen a scour pad and mix it into a thick paste with the baking soda.

Erin detailed: “The goal is to cover the entire glass oven door with the baking soda paste. If you find you do not have enough paste, simply add more baking soda and water.

“If the paste is thick and clumpy, add more water; if it’s thin and runny, add more baking soda.”

Let the mixture sit on the glass oven door for at least 30 minutes. For heavily soiled ovens, leaving the paste on overnight can yield incredible results. After the waiting period, re-moisten the scourer and begin scrubbing gently in sections, watching the grease effortlessly slide away.

Next, use a damp sponge to wipe away any leftover baking soda mixture.
