A cast reunion for one of the biggest kids shows of the noughties has hit everyone right in the feels – but can you tell who they are?
My Parents Are Aliens aired from 1999 until 2006 and starred the likes of Tony Gardner, Carla Mendonca, Barbara Durkin, and Danielle McCormack.
It followed the story of three orphaned children – Mel, Josh, and Lucy – who discover that their foster parents are actually aliens from a far-off planet.
The children help the aliens adjust to life on Earth while trying to keep their identities a secret in order to avoid losing another set of parents.
My Parents Are Aliens reached eight seasons and broadcast over 100 episodes, becoming one of the most beloved childrens series of its era.
Now, 25 years later, the cast have reunited and the actors who played Mel, Josh, and Lucy are all grown up, giving fans everywhere those painful pangs of nostalgia.
Tony Gardner, 60, who played alien dad Brian Johnson in the series, took to social media to let everyone know that he’d paid a visit to his former on-screen kids.
After smiling in a lovely picture with his old co-stars Danielle, Alex Kew, Charlotte Francis, Carla, and Patrick, he shared it with his 28,000 followers on X/Twitter.
He captioned the picture by saying, ‘My Parents are Aliens 25th Anniversary. Love you all’ – it’s now been viewed more than 1.2 million times on the platform.
@J199024 said: ‘Absolutely adored this show growing up and even at 34 I still do and I will always have fond memories.’
Meanwhile, @TaylorFanzel commented, ‘It’s like my childhood all in one picture, grown up,’ as @MilkandGlitter said: ‘I want a full scale reunion now I’m talking original Sophie, Trent, Harri, CJ, Frankie, Andy the Freak.’
@JamieDyer89 celebrated the series in his post: ‘Happy anniversary to you all. One of the last great original CITV shows. Remember it fondly, in the initial airings and the many reruns.’
After leaving My Parents Are Aliens, Tony starred as recurring character Dan Miller in the BBC’s satirical political comedy The Thick of It, appearing in six episodes.
He was also featured as a series regular in Lead Balloon, the BBC Four sitcom, and drama series Last Tango in Halifax alongside Anne Reid and Derek Jacobi.
Following the end of My Parents Are Aliens, Alex largely moved away from acting, with Charlotte also calling time on her career shortly afterwards.
Danielle continued to work until the mid-2010s, but her last acting credit to date was for a virtual reality version of the Grand Theft Auto game series.
