Coronation Street icon Antony Cotton has spilled all on his fellow actor Alan Halsall’s participation in I’m A Celebrity 2024.
This week saw the official confirmation of the ten celebrities who will be joining Ant and Dec for the jungle adventure on I’m A Celebrity.
The glittering cast is set to endure a series of gruelling challenges and spend up to three weeks under the Australian stars before viewers crown the new King or Queen of the Jungle.
The line-up for the 2024 series boasts names such as Coleen Rooney, Tulisa Contostavlos, Oti Mabuse, Alan, 42, Dean McCullough, Melvin Odoom, Barry McGuigan, Jane Moore, GK Barry, and Danny Jones.
During an appearance on Good Morning Britain this Tuesday, Antony, famed for his role as Sean Tully since 2003 on the ITV soap, shared his parting words to Alan, known for portraying Tyrone Dobbs since 1998, reports the Mirror.
Susanna Reid, the host, remarked: “Well, Antony, you spoke to Alan while he was on the plane and when he touched down he told everyone: ‘No, I’m only here to play golf.'”
Antony responded: “I did, while he was in the air! He wants to play golf and he wants to come home as soon as possible so please everybody vote for him to do every challenge!
“Alan Halsall is the nicest man in the world, I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love Alan. He’s absolutely loved by everyone at work.”
Yet Antony noted that Alan might face some difficulties in the jungle, saying: “He’s got a bit of a dickie knee, a bit of a dickie knee issue going on.” Susanna queried: “Will that matter in the jungle?” to which Antony asserted: “Well yeah, it’s all rocky!”
Ahead of his jungle stint, Alan shared his worst fears, confessing: “I’m not scared of anything at home but if you were to put ten snakes on my head, I don’t know how I would feel about that as clearly I’ve never been in that situation before!”
Upon joining the jungle series, he commented: “This is something I have always shied away from in the past. You are never going to get me on the ice, dancing isn’t my thing and this will be much harder than filming a scene in Corrie.”
Explaining the contrast to his onscreen work he stated: “There I am pretending to be someone else and delivering lines that are written for me. This is a very different thing. I will miss work too. It’s such a huge part of my life and I have been there for such a long time. I work with my best friends.”
When asked about his strengths and possible challenges, he said: “My sense of humour and I hope to have a laugh in camp. Worst? Sleeping is going to be interesting. I have problems sleeping and it has to be pitch black and deadly quiet now that is not going to happen!”
Good Morning Britain continues on weekdays at 6am on ITV and ITV X.
