The husband of Australian TV presenter Erin Jayne Plummer has died just two years after his wife’s tragic suicide.
Alan Plummer has died in Freshwater, Sydney, aged 49, leaving the couple’s three children orphaned, reports the Mirror.
He was the former director of a now-defunct company, Shine VIP Tours Australia PTY LTD, while his wife Erin was best known for hosting Australian talk show Studio 10.
Erin’s devastated colleagues broke the tragic news of her death on social media in 2022.
In a post, they described the late TV star as ‘a gorgeous human inside and out’. Alan had recently sold the family’s four-bedroom home in Freshwater, a property they had owned for more than two decades.
His death was described as “tragic” by a source familiar with the situation, according to Mail Online.
A statement released by a NSW Police Force spokesperson to the publication read: “Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the death of a 49-year-old man at Freshwater on Sunday.” No further details were available.
In a heartbreaking post at the time, Erin’s grieving friend and colleague, Sarah Harris, described her as a ‘gold medal mum’. She wrote: “Over the weekend, Studio 10 lost a little bit of sparkle with our friend and advertorial host Erin Jayne passing away suddenly.
“For two decades, Erin Jayne has been a friendly and familiar face on Australian television, for a lot of that she’s been brightening up our mornings with her bubbly personality and megawatt smile. Erin was just a gorgeous human inside and out and if it wasn’t for TV, Erin Jayne perhaps might have had a sporting career.
“She represented Australia in synchronised swimming and even surf life-saving. There is no question Erin Jayne was a high achiever and certainly a gold medal mum to her three young girls.
As well as working for Studio 10, Erin had also starred on other shows in Australia for more than two decades, including working at MTV, The Morning Show and Totally Active TV. Away from the camera, she also did a number of voiceovers for television shows.
Following her death, a GoFundMe was created to help support her family. The page read at the time: “Fundraising to support a regular gardener and housekeeper to keep the Plummer household running along with anything else they may need.”
Heartbroken friends, family, and supporters quickly raised over $20,000 (£10,900).
