If you’re on the market for a new smartphone, then the early Black Friday deals is one of the best opportunities to nab one for less.

Amazon is just one retailer currently offering a range of early discounts ahead of the shopping event on November 29. This includes dropping 50 percent off the Google Pixel 8 Pro that has been praised as “next level”.

Hailed for its “outstanding” camera and “smooth” performance, the Pixel 8 Pro is one of the latest smartphones to be offered by Google. While it usually retails at a whopping £999, it can be yours for just £499 – saving an incredible £500 off the RRP.

Amazon’s early deal gets bargain hunters an unlocked version off the bestselling smartphone, alongside a decent 128gb. The discount applies to all three colourways – obsidian, bay and porcelain.

Launched in 2023, the Pixel 8 Pro is the first smartphone to use Google’s most efficient AI model, Gemini Nano. This makes it ideal for professional lives, as it can easily transcribe meetings, interviews, presentations and more into simple bullet points.

However, the biggest selling point is the camera quality. Using Google’s “most powerful” Tensor G3 chip, it offers cutting-edge photo and video features such as a Magic Eraser that allows you to remove any unwanted noise or background images.

Offering four pro-level cameras, you can also easily touch up your photos if someone blinked or looked away. You can also boost the colour and lighting on your videos, allowing them to look more professional.

The 6.7-inch immersive display offers up “sharp” visuals, while the adaptive battery makes it perfect for all day use, as it can last over 27 hours, with an extreme battery saver mode offering 72 hours worth of use.

Singled out as an Amazon ‘Choice’ product with a 4.4 star rating, the Google Pixel 8 Pro has remained a popular choice among tech fans, with praise singling out its “fantastic” camera and “advanced” tools.

One shopper praised: “Fantastic camera. Top class zoom and advanced tools, seven years of updates, what is not to like about this amazing phone? Smooth scrolling, incredible photos and outstanding software to manipulate them.

“Continuous use I needed to charge every night, but I have always done that. Yes it gets a little warm at times but so do other phones of this quality. How about the Best Take feature? Allows you to take several group shots then press the button and it creates the best group shot, amazing!”

Someone else praised: “Arrived quick, phones is great. Easy set up, quick and the camera is next level. Great purchase.”

And another added: “Terrific phone. Everything is smooth and fast. The screen and the phone itself is just a joy to look at, as well as the pictures and videos that it can produce. Battery lasts me all day and then some, and finally they’ve put in some BANGING speakers, so rich and bassy sounding. Love this thing to bit..”

However, an underwhelmed shopper said: “Normally an excellent phone but the touch screen is a bit dodgy; requires me to repeatedly press on icons and links. Similarly typing is not as smooth as should be. So I am returning it …”
