An underappreciated romantic comedy featuring the newly-crowned Sexiest Man Alive is now available for home viewing.

John Krasinski, who was recently named the sexiest man of 2024 by People magazine, first gained fame for his endearing portrayal of Jim Halpert on The Office. Since then, he has built an impressive career, most notably starring in Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan and writing, producing, and directing films in the A Quiet Place horror series, which have been widely acclaimed.

However, one of the A-list actor’s roles that often gets overlooked is his lead role in a Sam Mendes drama. The 2009 film, Away We Go, tells the story of an eccentric couple expecting a baby, travelling across America in search of the ideal place to bring up their child.

Their journey is filled with various adventures and misadventures that makeup the drama’s 90-minute duration. Krasinski shares the screen with Maya Rudolph, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Catherine O’Hara, and Jeff Daniels, reports the Mirror.

Despite being one of his lesser-known roles, the rom-com holds a fresh 67% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has garnered a dedicated fan base over the years. On the movie platform Letterboxd, viewers continue to share their thoughts on the film 15 years after its debut.

“Away We Go is an underrated gem. A feel-good road trip movie that pulls off an exquisite balancing act, pairing genuinely heartfelt and moving drama with quirky comedy. It’s like Sam Mendes has made the antithesis to his Revolutionary Road,” one fan penned. Another admirer wrote: “Oh my god this movie is so sweet.”

A third joined in, lauding the Oscar-winning director: “I think this might be the best Sam Mendes movie.”

Yet another enthusiast remarked: “Away We Go is so pure and honest, and this is one of the few film relationships I want for myself. Stand aside Jack and Rose [from the Titanic], Noah and Allie [from The Notebook], THIS is ‘true’ love.”

And another extolled the drama: “Such a wonderfully sweet hidden gem. So charming, so pretty, and so so vulnerable. I fall in love with it more every time I watch it [sic].”

Away We Go is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video.
